Great outmoded camera! November 4, 2007 Richardinhingham (Hingham, MA USA) This little camera benefits in some ways from being outmoded. It has useful features, takes good pictures, and does not require enormous storage space. I got an equally outdated flash memory plug in for it and it can hold almost 400 pictures. My thirteen year old was very enthused by the camera as a gift!
Great! January 22, 2005 Camera Man (KY) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a great camera for a teenager or novice! Clear pictures and great design. 5 stars all the way.
Great for the price January 19, 2005 AS Atwood (Heflin, AL) Nice digital camera with 3x optical zoom for the price. 1.6 inch LCD view helps with image composition and is viewable even in full sun. 2 megapixel maximum resolution is fine for most uses and generates file sizes that are small enough for email. Video capability depends on the size of the SD card you have. Most digitcal cameras limit videos to 30 or 60 seconds but this Vivitar will take video up to the limit of memory. It does eat alkaline batteries like snacks so you'll want to get a set of rechargable batteries post haste. That's pretty much true for all digital cameras though. The optical zoom is way better than other cheap cameras so-called "digital zoom." The autofocus works well and doesn't slow things down too much if you read the manual and know how to pre-focus with the shutter button pressed half way. All in all it's a great point and shoot optical zoom digital camera for the price.
My first digital and I was thrilled...but January 26, 2004 GuitarJ56 (FL, USA) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I tried the Vivicam 2.0 for a week and must admit it eats batteries fast! But from what I'm hearing, that seems to be the case with all digital cameras. I solved that issue by buying a Duracell 1hr charger and an extra pack of rechargeable AA's. I already made a short video clip (with the 8mb internal memory you can record about 30 secs. of video) I shot in broad daylight and it came out beautiful! Minutes later I was watching it on my PC! The quality is very decent considering it's not a camcorder. This camera has lot's of features which is why I chose it above others.PROS: Has Video Out (NTSC/Pal-N) Records videos(no sound),limited only by memory available. Very cool hardware included in package. Has DC/in so you don't have to always use batteries. Is very easy to use and comfortable to hold and looks very nice in a classic way. Downloading pictures to the PC is a breeze only takes about 1 minute for 25 pictures at high res. CONS: No lens cover! I didn't expect that. The plastic build seems pretty frail and I'm not sure how long it will last. when shooting a picture there's a delay and you never really know when the thing will click...but then again, I'm new to digital photography and maybe I'll get used to this. The buttons seem a little slow and you have to press hard to get some response. The main feature this camera has above others I've considered is the extra digital window at the top which allows viewing various settings without having to turn on the LCD display. I found the quality of the pictures excellent! the flash covers every corner of the darkest room. I have tried to overcome most issues with this camera, but finally decided on returning it and ordered a Hewlett Packard 635 which seems like a more solid option. The Vivitar takes excellent photos and is very simple to use, but I find that it has a very frail construction and the controls are not trustworthy; especially the "joystick" type control on the back which started malfunctioning after a few days. I had chosen this camera over the HP at first because the HP 635 has no Video/out , but I have found that this is not such a necesary feature. Tip: before buying any camera, first try them out at the store. I could not find a Vivitar to try out and had no way of anticipating many things. the HP 635 I HAVE tried, and I feel pretty confident it will be a good choice. Great Cam, but.. July 5, 2003 Joaquin ventura (San Salvador, SS El Salvador) 6 out of 8 found this review helpful
It takes great pics, but it eats up batteries too quick, i had to buy rechargable ones because i was spending too much on regular batteries, with the lcd on, it only lasts about 20 minutes. Also, it CANT BE USED AS A WEB CAM, which was very dissapointing, and in the description says that it can be used as a web cam but it cant. Its also kind of slow when taking pics, but overall ts a great cam, comes with AV cables, pc cable and great software. Its also cool looking
